On the Pacific coast of the United States, the Battelle Marine Sciences Lab in Sequim, Washington, specializes in ecotoxicology, metals chemistry, and coastal resources. The MSL conducts toxicity tests using more than 30 different marine and freshwater organisms and also conducts toxicity testing following the stringent Quality Assurance requirements of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards. With large-capacity wet-laboratory facilities, scientists in this lab can conduct tests simultaneously at different temperature, salinity, and flow regimes, resulting in economies-of-scale and subsequent cost savings to clients.
